Vegas Golden Knights trade deadline acquisition Tomas Hertl is skating with the team in a red non-contact jersey.
He won't play against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday, but the fact he's skating with the team is a good indicator that a return will happen sometime in the final games of the regular season.
"I don't know when he'll play. He's not playing tomorrow," Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. "He's still in red, so we'll see how he progresses."
The Golden Knights made their biggest splash at the deadline in the final moments when they completed a trade with their divisional rivals. A trade that sent Hertl from the San Jose Sharks to the Golden Knights that shocked the hockey world.
Hertl received surgery on his knee back in February and has only played in 48 games this season. In those games he's scored 15 goals and 34 points.
Skating in a non-contact jersey means he won't be available for the Golden Knights next game but he's trending in the right direction. The Golden Knights will be in no rush to get him back in the lineup and he'll need to log at least one full contact practice before entering the lineup.
This is the first time Hertl has been on the ice with the Golden Knights.
