Vegas Golden Knights forward Tomas Hertl skated with the team in a regular practice jersey for the first time since being acquired at the trade deadline.
Hertl practiced yesterday in a red non-contact jersey and was cleared to practice with contact today. He's been ruled out for tonight's game against the Vancouver Canucks but HC Bruce Cassidy said he's not ruling him out for Friday's game.
"I'm not ruling him out for Friday or putting him in, but he's progressing."
The Golden Knights will travel to Arizona to take on the Coyotes on Friday. If Hertl does have a chance to play he'll travel with the team. The Golden Knights play the Canucks and the Edmonton Oilers on the road following their matchup with the Coyotes.
The Swiss forward getting into the lineup before the playoffs could be a key factor for the team's success. Getting acquainted and building chemistry with the team is vital but Hertl getting into game shape after missing so many games before the playoffs begin can be a major factor.
In the meantime, the Golden Knights will have a massive test with the Pacific Division-leading Canucks tonight. The Canucks eclipsed the 100-point mark and are four points back of the New York Rangers in the Presidents Trophy race.
The Golden Knights can also extend their lead to five points over the Los Angeles Kings with a win tonight.
