Charlottetown might have found a new power play quarterback with the dynamic Flory.
The Charlottetown Islanders have had a somewhat quiet off-season to date, but are now making a splash in the American free agent market.
That would be the signing of Kage Flory announced on Tuesday, a dynamic and offensive-minded blueliner that scored at a ridiculous pace in the 16U AAA system in New York.
Flory, 16, scored 74 (40+34) points in 62 games last season for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres from the blue line. He also got into one game with the USHL's Chicago Steel, who drafted him in that league.

Clearly, the 5-foot-10 defender is a dynamic, puck-moving offensive blueliner with a ton of skill and the ability to score. That profile has done well in the QMJHL in recent years, with obvious stars like Tommy Bleyl and Xavier Villeneuve, but even lesser-known types such as Cal Uens have found success in a similar role.
Charlottetown will hope Flory can be the next of that type of defender that dominates the league, and Flory will look to have a big season as he enters his draft year as an August 2009 birthday.
