The newly-acquired Cape Breton Eagles forward will head to BU following his junior career.
It's been a whirlwind of a year for Liam Lefebvre.
After starting the 2025-26 season with the Rimouski Océanic, the physical forward was dealt to the Chicoutimi Saguenéens in a blockbuster during the winter trade period. There, he and the Sags went all the way to the Memorial Cup, with Lefebvre being a big part of the team. After the playoff run, he was dealt again in the Q, going to a Cape Breton Eagles side that's loading up for a big year.
His play gave him plenty of NHL draft attention, where the Los Angeles Kings selected the Montréal native in the middle of the second round as an overager.
Now, Lefebvre has announced his NCAA commitment to Boston University, flipping from a prior commitment to the University of Maine. He announced this commitment on his social media channels Monday morning.

Lefebvre is a big, physical centre with a knack for scoring goals. He uses his 6-foot-3, 203-pound frame to bully junior defenders on the forecheck and get to the inside to find offence.
He dominated the American prep school circuit for a couple of years before coming over to the Q in 2025-26, joining Rimouski. In his first season, he scored a combined 59 (32+27) points in 59 games with the 'Nics and Sags.
His hard-checking style and offensive acumen will make him a key piece in Cape Breton's top-six next year, as they look to make a deep playoff run. Then, Lefebvre will take his talents to the NCAA, where he'll look to develop his game and earn an entry-level contract from the Kings.
