The blueliner joins Halifax after graduating from prep school.
While signing season has slowed down across the league, there are still some teams working at filling out their rosters ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
The Halifax Mooseheads are one of those teams, and on Tuesday morning announced the signing of American defenseman Brady Smith to their roster for the upcoming season.
Smith, 19, played his recent seasons with Taft school of the prep circuit in Connecticut. He also has experience with the Yale Jr. Bulldogs, and played two games with the USHL's Madison Capitols last year.
The Columbine Valley, CO, native is an offensive blueliner with the ability to run a power play and rack up assists with the puck on his stick.
In 24 games last season at Taft, Smith recorded three goals and 18 assists for 21 points, which was good for a tie for fourth on the team in scoring.
In Halifax, the 6-foot defenseman should slot in nicely on a power play unit, and provide some much-needed offence from the blue line on a team looking to take a step heading into 2026-27.
