The 16-year-old blueliner will join the team for next season.

It's signing season across the QMJHL, with teams now topping up their rosters as all focus shifts towards the 2026-27 season.

The Shawinigan Cataractes are the latest to announce a notable signing, adding import selection Pyotr Novozhilov to their roster.

Novozhilov, 16, was drafted 84th overall in this year's CHL import draft out of the Dynamo Moscow system.

The 6-foot-3 defender split last season between the U17 and U18 teams for Dynamo, scoring two goals and five assists in 13 games with the U18 side.

He's described as a physical blueliner with good size, and an ability to retrieve pucks in his own end, which will be a nice boost to a retooling Cataractes side.

Shawinigan had two open import spots before this move, with Jiri Klima heading to the NCAA and Elias Schneider being traded to Cape Breton.

Now, Novozhilov will join Gleb Semenov to make up the import core with the Cataractes with one spot left open for the future.
