The Newfoundlander will join a retooling Sags team in exchange for a ninth-rounder in 2029.
As training camps start to open up across the QMJHL, player movement typically follows as teams make tough roster decisions.
The first of those moves to go official this year is Caylen Blake being traded from the Halifax Mooseheads to the Chicoutimi Saguenéens in exchange for a ninth-round pick in the 2029 QMJHL draft.
Blake, 18, was not listed on Halifax's training camp roster this year, which sparked speculation of a move. A day later, he's now officially heading to the defending champion Sags.

(Photo: Trevor MacMillan)The Corner Brook, Nfld., native was a second-round pick in the 2024 QMJHL draft to Halifax, and made the team out of camp as a 16-year-old. He played two full seasons with the team, including a 27 (12+15) point campaign in 2025-26.
But, he's seemingly lost his spot with the large number of American signings made by the Mooseheads in recent weeks, and is now heading to a rebuilding Chicoutimi side coming off a championship-winning year.
Blake has no active USports or NCAA commitment for the future, but a strong season with the Saguenéens could see teams start calling for him after his junior career.
