A look at which team currently holds the 2026-27 WHL In-Season Cup.
The new addition to the 2026-27 WHL campaign is the In-Season Cup. This league-wide tournament started the campaign with the Everett Silvertips and transfers to whichever team beats them first. The "Cup" will keep transferring until the end of the year, when the team holding it will be declared champion.
After the first week of play, the In-Season Cup already has a new home. On Saturday, the Portland Winterhawks defeated the Silvertips in a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory. Jordan Duguay scored the winner as Portland stunned the rowdy crowd at the Angel of the Winds Arena.
The In-Season Cup will only need to be defended once in Week 2 as the Winterhawks battle the Kamloops Blazers. Last season, Portland swept Kamloops in the season series, winning all three games. Saturday's matchup is scheduled for 6:00 pm PT at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
