The Edmonton Oil Kings are headed back to the WHL Playoffs.

The Edmonton Oil Kings are playoff-bound. Edmonton clinched its spot in the 2026 WHL Playoffs thanks to a Moose Jaw Warriors loss to the Regina Pats on Saturday. The Oil Kings have now qualified for the post-season two straight seasons after missing in both 2023 and 2024.

Edmonton has emerged as a Memorial Cup favourite in the East this year. They are 35-13-3-2 and have scored 228 goals while allowing 165 goals in 53 games. The Oil Kings are the fourth team to secure their spot in the 2026 WHL Playoffs, joining the Everett Silvertips, Prince Albert Raiders and Medicine Hat Tigers.

Overall, Edmonton has assembled a deep roster both up front and on the blue line.  Lukas Sawchyn leads the team with 74 points, while Miroslav Holinka has already surpassed the 30-goal plateau. The Oil Kings also brought in some big names at the trade deadline as they acquired Carter Sotheran, Jaxon Fuder, Aaron Obobaifo and Kanjyu Gojsic.
