The 2026-27 CHL Top-10 Week 1 Rankings feature plenty of WHL content.
Every week, the CHL releases a list of the top-10 teams in the league. Throughout the season, we at The Hockey News will be keeping track of which WHL teams are in the rankings, as well as who finishes the year ranked highest. Here is a look at the three WHL teams that made the 2026-27 Week 1 rankings.
No. 1- Victoria Royals
The Victoria Royals kicked off their season with an impressive 4-2 win over the Kamloops Blazers. With players returning from NHL camps, the Royals will get an infusion of talent from Vladimir Proskurin, Cameron Schmidt, and Filip Novák. Victoria has built a powerful offence and will be a contender in the West this year.
No. 5- Medicine Hat Tigers
As expected, the Medicine Hat Tigers have once again assembled one of the deepest rosters in the CHL. The Tigers are already 2-0-0-0 on the season and have outscored opponents 10-3. With Liam Ruck, Markus Ruck and Yaroslav Bryzgalov expected to return, Medicine Hat looks set for another long playoff run.
No. 9- Brandon Wheat Kings
The Brandon Wheat Kings have built a lineup full of young and exciting talent. They are led by 2027 projected first-round pick Jaxon Jacobson and boast one of the league's top goaltenders, Filip Ruzicka. Ultimately, it will not be surprising if Brandon is at the top of the East Division by the end of the campaign.
