Welcome to THN's "WHL Standouts From The Week" article. In this weekly column, we highlight one player from each division who impressed over the last week. Here is a look at the four standouts from week 23.
Burke Hood- Vancouver Giants
The legend of Burke Hood continues. The 2024 NHL draft prospect stopped 129 of the 137 shots he faced over the past three games and helped the Vancouver Giants pick up a big win on Sunday against the Wenatchee Wild. Based on his play this season, Hood should start to shoot up draft boards, as he has been one of the best draft-eligible goaltenders in the league this season.
Daniel Hauser- Calgary Hitmen
Daniel Hauser has become unbeatable, literally. The Calgary Hitmen goaltender recorded two shutouts in two games this week and has four straight shutouts total. If Hauser continues his hot streak, he should have no problem setting the WHL's all-time wins record before the playoffs.
Diego Buttazzoni- Portland Winterhawks
It was another impressive week for Diego Buttazzoni of the Portland Winterhawks. In three games, he scored four times while recording seven points. With 69 points in 56 games, Buttazzoni is doing his part to help secure a postseason berth for Portland.
Lukas Dragicevic- Prince Albert Raiders
Lukas Dragicevi continues to produce for the Prince Albert Raiders. The Seattle Kraken prospect had three points in three games, which included a two-goal night against the Edmonton Oil Kings. If Dragicevic can keep producing the way he has, the Raiders should be able to clinch a playoff spot sooner rather than later.
