Welcome to THN's "WHL Standouts From The Week" article. In this weekly column, we highlight one player from each division who impressed over the last week. Here is a look at the four standouts from week six.
Nathan Behm- Kamloops Blazers
All Nathan Behm has done in this season is score. The 2025 NHL Draft prospect had ten points in three games this week and is now up to 22 in his first 13 games. A dynamic winger, his draft stock continues to rise week after week.
Gracyn Sawchyn- Edmonton Oil Kings
Gracyn Sawchyn continues to lead by example for the Edmonton Oil Kings. The Florida Panthers prospect hit the scoresheet in all three games this past week, totalling four goals and seven points. Currently with 13 points in eight games, Sawchyn is well on his way to establishing new career highs this season.
Tyler MacKenzie- Everett Silvertips
Tyler MacKenzie has emerged as one of the most underrated acquisitions from the past offseason. The overager had eight points in four games last week and is almost halfway to his point total of 47 from 2023-24. A key part of the Everett Silvertips lineup, MacKenzie not only brings leadership but has had a massive impact on the scoresheet early in 2024-25.
Brady Birnie- Swift Current Broncos
Hats off (literally) to Brady Birnie. The Swift Current Broncos winger recorded six points in two games this week, which included a hat trick against the Seattle Thunderbirds. Now up to 19 points on the season, Birnie is yet another player who is on pace to set new career highs this season.
