Wednesday night saw both the Vancouver Giants and Portland Winterhawks book their spots in the 2025 WHL Playoffs. The Winterhawks qualified after a 4-3 win over the Kamloops Blazers, while the Giants secured their berth after the Wenatchee Wild lost to the Prince George Cougars. Portland and Vancouver are the sixth and seventh teams in the Western Conference to qualify for the postseason, leaving one final spot open.

Starting with the Giants, they are headed for the playoffs for the sixth straight season. Vancouver has recorded 29 wins in 61 games and is on pace to record back-to-back 30-win campaigns for the first time since 2020. Led by Tyler Thorpe, Mazden Leslie, Jaden Lipinski and Burke Hood, this Giants team is picking up momentum and will be difficult to stop in the postseason.

As for the Winterhawks, they are back in the playoffs for a 13th straight year. Portland will be looking to replicate last year's run to the WHL Final and will have eyes on a fourth Ed Chynoweth Cup. Led by Kyle Chyzowski, Carter Sotheran, Tyson Jugnauth, and Diego Buttazzoni, the 32-win Winterhawks will be a handful once the postseason begins.
