The Moose Jaw Warriors' forward has the longest road point streak in the WHL this season.
Atley Calvert is having a fantastic end to his WHL career. Not only has he set a new career-high with 79 points, but he also owns the longest road point streak in the WHL at 19. With seven road games to go, he also has a chance to surpass Pano Fimis of the Erie Otters, who currently has the season record of 22 games he set earlier this month.
Calvert's streak started on November 3rd when he recorded an assist against the Edmonton Oil Kings. During the 19-game streak, he has recorded 35 points, which included a five-point night in his last outing versus the Spokane Chiefs. Currently also on a 16-game point streak, which is the longest active streak in the WHL, he is showing he can deliver not just on the road but at home as well.
While Calvert and his teammates will be focused on making playoffs, one storyline to follow is if he will be offered a pro contract in the next few weeks. While NHL teams can sign overagers at any point during the season, they generally wait until the end of March so that the player won't count as part of their roster until the following season. Based on his performance so far this year, it wouldn't be surprising if teams are interested, as he would be an intriguing addition to any prospect pool in the NHL.
