These Bruins will likely not be back next season.

The Boston Bruins are having a strong 2023-24 season. Even after losing several notable players last offseason, they are still among the top teams in the NHL. While this is the case, there's a good chance we will see more changes to their group this offseason. Thus, let's discuss three players who likely won't be back next season.

    Linus Ullmark

Linus Ullmark is a clear trade candidate this offseason. Reports surfaced that he blocked a trade to the Kings at the deadline, and the Bruins are likely to shop him again during the summer. This is because fellow star goaltender Jeremy Swayman is due for a big raise, and the Bruins need to improve their roster elsewhere.

There's no question that Ullmark will garner interest. The reigning Vezina Trophy winner would be a big-time addition to clubs needing help between the pipes. One clear possible landing spot is the New Jersey Devils.

    Derek Forbort

There's a good chance that Derek Forbort has played his last game for the Bruins. The shutdown defenseman is dealing with two serious injuries and is unlikely to return this season. With that, he is a pending UFA, the Bruins are likely to let him walk this summer.

    Derek Forbort

Forbort had a tough 2023-24 season, and his injury trouble is likely the reason behind it. Yet, with fellow left-shot defenseman Parker Wotherspoon being extended, it would be surprising to see Forbort get another deal from the B's.

    Kevin Shattenkirk

Kevin Shattenkirk has served well as an affordable addition to the Bruins' blue line. In 56 games, he has five goals and 22 points. While he has provided decent offense and experience to the Bruins' roster, the addition of Andrew Peeke at the deadline may be a sign that Shattenkirk won't be back next season.

Charlie McAvoy, Brandon Carlo, and Peeke are all under contract beyond this season and are likely to be Boston's right side next campaign. Thus, there may not be enough room to keep Shattenkirk around for another season.

Other notable pending UFAs whom the Bruins could lose this offseason include Jake DeBrusk, Danton Heinen, James van Riemsdyk, Matt Grzelcyk, and Pat Maroon. Don Sweeney has some big decisions to make.
