3 Teams Expected to Target Bruins' Jake DeBrusk

These three teams should be watched when it comes to Jake DeBrusk.

Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle were The Hockey News picks for the mid-season Selke Trophy.

NHL free agency is less than a month away, and the Boston Bruins still have not come to terms on a new deal with Jake DeBrusk. If this remains the case on July 1, DeBrusk will become an unrestricted free agent and be one of the most popular players on the market.

These three teams should be watched especially closely regarding No. 74.

    Seattle Kraken

The Seattle Kraken have already been connected to DeBrusk, and it is entirely understandable. The Pacific Division team took a major step in the wrong direction last season, and a significant reason for it was their poor scoring. Because of this, it would not be surprising if they had a scoring winger like DeBrusk on their radar.

If the Kraken added DeBrusk, he would significantly upgrade their current top six, whether he plays on the left or right wing. In addition, the Kraken could view him as a potential good match to play with Matty Beniers.

    Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers have been connected to DeBrusk for quite some time, and if he hits the market, it would be their best chance to get him. DeBrusk is an Edmonton native, and his father, Louie DeBrusk, is a commentator for the Oilers. These reasons could make the Oilers an alluring spot for DeBrusk. In addition, it doesn't hurt that they have superstars like Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

If the Oilers signed DeBrusk, he would be an immediate fit on their second line with Draisaitl and Evander Kane. In addition, he would give them another valuable weapon for their power play.

    Toronto Maple Leafs

The idea of this may enrage Bruins fans, but the Toronto Maple Leafs should be watched in the DeBrusk sweepstakes, too. The Fourth Period recently reported that the Maple Leafs could be in the mix for DeBrusk this summer.

If the Maple Leafs can't agree on a new deal with Tyler Bertuzzi and/or Max Domi, it would make sense for them to make a pitch to DeBrusk. He would give their top six a nice boost and could work incredibly well on a line with William Nylander.
