The Boston Bruins may be struggling right now, but their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins, certainly are not. Providence just put together their best performance of the 2024-25 season in their last matchup against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, defeating them by a 10-2 final score.
Recently signed Bruins prospect Ty Gallagher made his debut for Providence during this matchup, and the 6-foot defenseman left a strong first impression. The Clarkston, Michigan native scored a goal and had a plus-1 rating in his AHL debut. Gallagher's goal was a nice one, too, as he scored with a long-distance wrist shot from the point.
This was certainly a good way for Gallagher to get his professional career started after signing his AHL deal with Providence earlier this week. If he keeps this up, he could grab the attention of the NHL club.
The Bruins selected Gallagher with the 217th overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. Before signing with Providence, he had a strong year with Colorado College this campaign. In 37 games with the school, he set new career highs at the collegiate level with nine goals, 17 assists, and 26 points.
