The Boston Bruins are missing this forward early on.
The Boston Bruins' poor offense has been one of the biggest reasons for the club's struggles this season. Their middle six, in particular, has been incredibly weak.
The loss of Jake DeBrusk is undoubtedly being felt early on this season, but the same can be said about Danton Heinen. After a solid 2023-24 season with the Bruins, Heinen landed a two-year, $4.5 million contract with the Vancouver Canucks this off-season.
With the Bruins' middle six having a challenging start to the season, they certainly could have used Heinen right now. In 74 games this past season with Boston, he had 17 goals, 36 points, and a plus-16 rating. With numbers like these, he became an important part of Boston's forward group. He even received several reps in the Bruins' top six because of it.
Heinen is having a decent start with the Canucks in 2024-25, posting two goals, four points, and a plus-3 rating in nine games. With this, he has produced more than Bruins forwards like Pavel Zacha, Trent Frederic, Charlie Coyle, Morgan Geekie, and Justin Brazeau.
Nevertheless, the Bruins are definitely missing Heinen right now. He gave them excellent secondary offensive production, and they are receiving very little of that from their current roster.
