The Boston Bruins lost to the Utah Hockey Club in overtime by a 2-1 final score on Saturday (Oct. 19). Overall, it was a rough night for the Bruins, especially considering their season-high 22 giveaways.
While it was a tough night for the Bruins, Cole Koepke stood out again. The 26-year-old winger scored the Bruins' lone goal and led all skaters with five shots on the night.
Cole KoepkeKoepke's goal was a beauty, too, as he demonstrated great confidence with the puck before beating Utah netminder Connor Ingram five-hole. For a fourth-liner, Koepke sure keeps scoring.
With this goal, Koepke has now scored in back-to-back games for the Bruins. In addition, he now has three goals and a team-leading six points in six games. With that, his plus-10 rating is the best in the entire NHL.
Koepke has been such a marvelous story so far this season. After posting just one goal and three points in 26 games over two seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning, he has been on fire with the Bruins. He is proving to the Bruins that he not only belongs in the NHL, but he can also make a big impact in the process.
Cole KoepkeIt will be interesting to see how Koepke builds on his incredible start. So far, this signing has already been a real home run for the B's.
