Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas is one of the top trade candidates heading into the 2024 NHL Offseason. The Hurricanes have bigger priorities, and there is a real expectation that he will be dealt because of it. The Boston Bruins, a team that needs serious help in their top six, have naturally been connected to him.

Due to this, on a recent episode of The Jeff Marek Show, Marek and Elliotte Friedman discussed the possibility of the Bruins going in for Necas. Friedman asked Marek what the Hurricanes would want in a potential Necas deal from Boston. From there, Marek immediately brought up one of the Bruins' top players – Linus Ullmark.

Here is exactly what Marek said on the matter: "One of the obvious ones is Linus Ullmark, who has one more year left on term, and the contingency there is to waive the NTC and to extend.”

There have been plenty of rumblings that the Hurricanes will look to add a starting goalie this summer. They were notably interested in Ullmark during this season, too, so they clearly like the player. Furthermore, with Jeremy Swayman stealing the Bruins' crease during the playoffs, the Bruins are in an obvious position to move on from Ullmark.

On paper, there looks like there could be amazing match here between the Bruins and Canes. The Bruins would land a much-needed top-six forward who would significantly improve their roster, while the Hurricanes would get the star goalie that they need.
