During the Boston Bruins' Feb. 27 matchup against the New York Islanders, forward Matt Poitras left the contest after being hit into the Islanders' open bench door by Brock Nelson. With how scary the play looked, there was naturally plenty of concern about the young Bruins forward.
Poitras was a participant at the Bruins' Feb. 28 practice, and he provided an update on how he's feeling. Thankfully, it was an encouraging one.
"It was kind of just an unlucky play," Poitras said. "I kind of just got pushed, and, unfortunately, the door opened. Obviously, it was a little scary. It didn’t feel very good last night but feels better today. Lucky it wasn’t worse than it was. When I woke up this morning, I felt better. Just got some imaging and came back clean. Still a little sore but just a bruise.”
This is certainly a promising update from the Bruins' young forward. Although it looked like he could have suffered a more serious injury, thankfully, it appears to be nothing too severe.
In 29 games this season with the Bruins, Poitras has one goal, 11 points, and a minus-3 rating.
