This is certainly good news to hear about the young Boston Bruins forward.

Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle were The Hockey News picks for the mid-season Selke Trophy.

While speaking to reporters, Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney shared that forward Matthew Poitras has been fully cleared to return for training camp.

Poitras, 20, underwent shoulder surgery in February that ended his 2023-24 campaign. Now, after several months of recovery, he is good to go and will look to impress to earn a spot on the Bruins' NHL roster.

Sweeney also noted that Poitras is likely to play both center and right wing at training camp. With the Bruins having multiple spots to fight for in their lineup right now, it is understandable that they will try Poitras out at multiple positions.

Poitras being healthy again is great news for the Bruins. The 2022 second-round pick has an incredibly bright future and could be a strong part of the Bruins' lineup if he takes another step forward in his development.

In 33 games last season for the Bruins, he had five goals to go along with 15 points and a plus-4 rating. Overall, the 5-foot-11 forward had a solid start to his NHL career, and he will now look to build off it in 2024-25 from here.

It will be fascinating to see what kind of training camp and preseason Poitras has. If he performs well, don't be surprised if he has a middle-six spot in the Bruins' lineup.
