Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery shared why he has decided to split up the club's best line.

The Boston Bruins will be going up against a tough Carolina Hurricanes club on Thursday (Oct. 31). After a bad loss to the Philadelphia Flyers last game, Bruins head coach is making some serious changes to the team's lineup.

Montgomery's most significant lineup change is splitting up the club's fourth line of Johnny Beecher, Mark Kastelic, and Cole Koepke. This trio has been the team's best line all season, so some are questioning the decision.

While speaking to reporters, Montgomery provided his reasoning. Here is what the Bruins' bench boss said on the matter:

"With splitting up that Kastelic, Beecher, and Koepke line, we want their work habits to kind of rub off on their linemates."

This is an interesting approach from Montgomery, but it is also understandable. The Bruins' fourth line has been the club's most consistent line this season, while the rest of the forwards have struggled mightily. Thus, having them all on different lines could give the team the boost that they desperately need right now.

It will be fascinating to see if splitting up the fourth line helps the Bruins against the Canes from here.
