This team could be in the mix for Jake DeBrusk if he hits the market.

The Boston Bruins have several pending UFAs heading into the 2024 NHL Offseason. Jake DeBrusk is easily the most notable, and the Bruins have a big decision to make regarding him.

DeBrusk's play has improved recently. He is riding a five-game point streak and has 12 points over his last ten games. He is making his case for an extension, but if the Bruins can't get him extended or let him walk, he will surely get much attention in free agency.

In a recent article for theScore, Josh Wegman listed DeBrusk as one of three potential free-agent targets whom the Montreal Canadiens could look to sign this offseason. Wegman also listed Warren Foegele (Edmonton Oilers) and Daniel Sprong (Detroit Red Wings) as possible free-agent targets for Montreal.

Wegman argued that the Canadiens should be in the market for younger UFAs who would benefit the club's forward group for multiple seasons, and DeBrusk, indeed, would if signed. This is because he is a true top-six winger when performing at his best, which we have been seeing lately.

If signed, DeBrusk certainly could be a fit on the Canadiens' roster. He would provide a major boost to their top six and work well on their power play due to his offensive contributions and overall skill.

However, the Bruins still have plenty of time to sign DeBrusk before the offseason. Given how well he has played lately, they must consider it seriously. Losing him to a big-time rival like the Habs or any other club for nothing would sting.
