The Bruins have grabbed the attention of the rest of the NHL.

The Bruins have grabbed the attention of the rest of the NHL.

Heading into the 2023-24 season, the Boston Bruins were, understandably, surrounded by many questions. They had several offseason departures, including Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, Tyler Bertuzzi, and Dmitry Orlov. As a result, some worried that they would not be a playoff club.

Fast-forward to today and things are going wonderfully for the Bruins. Even after their tough loss to the New York Rangers last night, they have the most points in the NHL with 97 (41-15-15 record).

According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Bruins have gained a lot of respect around the league because of their successful season. Here's what the prominent insider had to say in his latest 32 Thoughts column: "Other teams really respect that Boston’s leading the east (although Florida has two games in hand). To do that after losing their top two centres hasn’t gone unnoticed."

It is not surprising that the Bruins have been impressing their opponents. They have been near the top of the standings all season and have adjusted wonderfully after losing many significant pieces, with Bergeron and Krejci being the most notable.

Charlie Coyle and Pavel Zacha have stepped up in top-six center roles, while Morgan Geekie has been a home run of an addition.

While the Bruins have earned respect around the league, they still must end the season on a high note if they hope to maintain their top spot in the league.
