The Bruins made the right call signing this rookie.

Last month, the Boston Bruins signed Justin Brazeau to two-year, two-way NHL contract. He certainly earned it, as he was playing excellently for the Providence Bruins. In 49 games with the AHL club before the signing, he had 18 goals and 37 points. With that, he continuously showed improvement during the three seasons he played under AHL deals with Providence.

Fast-forward to today, and this is a move that Bruins GM Don Sweeney cannot be regretting. Brazeau has fit in magnificently in the Bruins' bottom six. He's not only given them more size and grit, but he also is contributing on the scoresheet and working well as a net-front presence on their power play.

Brazeau, 26, is also starting to heat up big time for the Bruins. After scoring twice against the Ottawa Senators on March 19, he followed that up with a goal and an assist against the New York Rangers last night. He was easily their top player in their loss to the Blueshirts, and that's immensely impressive from a rookie who had an AHL deal only one month ago.

Due to his hot stretch of play, Brazeau now has four goals, six points, 28 hits, and a plus-5 rating. He's been a great story for the Bruins, and it will be fun to see how he finishes the campaign from here.
