During the Boston Bruins' March 1 contest against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Brad Marchand left during the first period after suffering an upper-body injury. The Bruins captain was injured after receiving an awkward hit from Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph.
Bruins head coach Joe Sacco has now provided an update on Marchand, and it is less-than-ideal. Sacco confirmed that Marchand will not be in the lineup for the Original Six club on March 2 against the Minnesota Wild.
With the Bruins needing every point they can get to help their playoff chances, it is certainly tough to hear that Marchand is unable to play against the Wild. However, the Bruins will now need to adjust without their star forward against a tough Minnesota team from here.
In 61 games this season with the Bruins, Marchand has 21 goals, 47 points, 66 hits, and a minus-8 rating.
