Former Boston Bruins forward Reilly Smith is likely to be on the move again. This is because the former Bruin is being held out of the lineup by the New York Rangers against the Nashville Predators due to "trade deadline reasons," as reported by NHL insider Pierre LeBrun.
The Rangers currently do not hold a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference standings and have already begun selling some of their pieces with the trade deadline just about here. With Smith being a pending unrestricted free agent, he is standing out as a prime rental candidate for contenders to target.
A reunion between the Bruins and Smith is unlikely to occur, however. Like the Rangers, the Bruins are out of a playoff spot at this season's juncture. Thus, they are likelier to sell off some of their pending UFAs, like Trent Frederic and Justin Brazeau, rather than bringing in a rental. It just hasn't been that kind of season for Boston.

The Bruins memorably acquired Smith during the 2013 NHL off-season as a part of the infamous Tyler Seguin deal that sent the latter to the Dallas Stars. Smith spent two seasons in Boston following the move, posting 33 goals, 91 points, and a plus-35 rating in 163 games.
