On March 18, the Boston Bruins recalled top prospect Fabian Lysell under emergency conditions. Head coach Joe Sacco confirmed to reporters that Lysell will get into a game with the Bruins during their five-game road trip, so fans will get a chance to see the 2021 first-round pick in action.
With Lysell getting another recall, the 22-year-old winger must take advantage of his golden opportunity. The Bruins blew up their roster at the deadline, trading former key forwards like Brad Marchand, Trent Frederic, and Justin Brazeau. With this, there are spots to fight for in the Bruins' lineup, and Lysell now has the chance to prove that he deserves to stick on the NHL roster.
Lysell made his NHL debut earlier this season with the Bruins during their Dec. 28 contest against the Columbus Blue Jackets. During that matchup, the 5-foot-11 winger sported a plus-1 rating. Now, the youngster will look to make an offensive impact after getting a second chance on the Bruins' NHL roster.
The Bruins need every spark they can get as they desperately try to climb up the wild card standings. If Lysell can enter the lineup and immediately stand out, it will help his chances of sticking around.
In 51 games this season with Providence, Lysell has 11 goals, 34 points, 38 penalty minutes, and a plus-11 rating. It will be interesting to see how he performs for Boston from here.
