This Bruins prospect has the potential to break out in 2024-25.

Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle were The Hockey News picks for the mid-season Selke Trophy.

Boston Bruins top prospect Fabian Lysell took a step forward in his development last season. After posting 14 goals and 37 points in 54 games in 2022-23 with the Providence Bruins, he recorded 15 goals and 50 points in 56 games with the AHL squad last season. Overall, it was a very solid year for the 2021 first-round pick, and he's a clear candidate for their NHL roster next season because of it.

When looking at the Bruins' current roster, Lysell should make a case for an NHL spot. The Bruins' depth on the wing is notably weaker heading into the new season, as players like Jake DeBrusk, Danton Heinen, Pat Maroon, and James van Riemsdyk are no longer on the team. Thus, there are clear spots in the Bruins' middle six up for grabs.

When noting that Lysell is continuing to improve offensively, it is fair to wonder if this will be the year we see the top prospect break out. When looking at his numbers at the AHL level and the Bruins' current situation at right wing, there is no question that he should at least get some reps at the NHL level next year.

Lysell still has the tools to blossom into a middle-six NHL winger at least, and this should be the year that he takes a big step forward. He has shown excellent improvement in Providence, and it will be intriguing to see if it is enough for him to land a full-time gig with Boston from here.
