
Former Boston Bruins defenseman Steven Kampfer has announced his retirement from professional hockey.
Kampfer, 36, spent the 2024-25 season Chelyabinsk Traktor of the KHL. In 59 games with the KHL squad this season, the former Bruins blueliner posted three goals, 22 points, 33 penalty minutes, and a minus-1 rating.
Kampfer played five seasons over two stints with the Bruins during his NHL career. In 113 games as a Bruin, he recorded 10 goals, 25 points, 127 hits, and a plus-14 rating. He spent the final three campaigns of his NHL career with the Bruins from 2018-19 to 2020-21 and was on the Bruins' 2011 Stanley Cup championship-winning team.
In 231 career NHL games split between the Minnesota Wild, Florida Panthers, New York Rangers, and Bruins, Kampfer posted 15 goals, 24 assists, 39 points, and 328 hits.
