Earlier this month, the Boston Bruins finally signed forward Tyler Johnson to a contract for the season. Johnson had been practicing with the Bruins before signing his deal and had a professional tryout (PTO) with the club during training camp.

When the Bruins signed Johnson, it made sense. They needed more secondary scoring, and Johnson has the potential to provide just that. For example, last season with the Chicago Blackhawks, the 34-year-old had 17 goals and 31 points in 67 games.

In Johnson's first five games as a Bruin, he failed to get a single point. However, he broke through his offensive slump against the Detroit Red Wings, recording the primary assist on Justin Brazeau's first-period power-play goal.

After receiving a pass from Bruins defenseman Mason Lohrei, Johnson wristed the puck toward the net. From there, Brazeau tipped Johnson's shot past Red Wings goalie Cam Talbot.

This is undoubtedly a nice step in the right direction for Johnson. The veteran forward is known for his offensive skill, and he showed it off on this play. It will be fascinating to see how he builds off it from here.
