It was a rough 2024-25 season for Boston Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman, but that reportedly did not stop one of the NHL's best teams from being interested in acquiring him this campaign.
According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the Edmonton Oilers "inquired" about Swayman during this season
"Edmonton inquired about Jeremy Swayman this season, well after he signed his deal with Boston, but with how much Stuart Skinner gets criticized, Stu seems to be doing fine in net for the Oilers" Pagnotta reported.
Hearing that the Oilers had Swayman on their radar this season is not entirely surprising. Their goaltending during the regular-season was shaky, as starter Stuart Skinner had a .896 save percentage and a 2.81 goals-against average. However, Skinner is now shining this post-season after a tough beginning to it, as he has a 6-4 record, a 2.53 goals-against average, a .906 save percentage, and three shutouts.
Yet, if the Oilers end up wanting to upgrade their goaltending situation this summer, it would be understandable if they had Swayman on their radar again. While the Bruins' No. 1 goaltender had an ugly 2024-25 season, he demonstrated before this campaign that he is capable of being a legitimate star. The Anchorage, Alaska native had a .914 save percentage or better in each of his first four seasons in the NHL (2020-21 through 2023-24) and notably won the William M. Jennings Trophy as a tandem with Linus Ullmark during the 2022-23 season.
In 58 games this season for the Bruins, Swayman had a 22-29-7 record, a 3.11 goals-against average, a .892 save percentage, and four shutouts.
