Late last month, former Buffalo Sabres forward Alexander Nylander and a sixth-round pick were quietly traded by the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Emil Bemstrom.

It is safe to say that the Blue Jackets are happy about making this move thus far, as Nylander has been on fire since joining Columbus. In seven games with the Blue Jackets, he has five goals, seven points, and a plus-2 rating.

Nylander, 26, has recorded all seven of his points with the Blue Jackets over his last five games. As a result, he is on an absolute heater and is not showing any signs of slowing down. His best game came on March 4 against the Vegas Golden Knights, however, as he posted a hat trick.

While Nylander has not been able to establish himself as a full-time NHL player since being drafted eighth overall by the Sabres in 2016, things could finally be changing on that front. Let's see if he can keep this play up for the Blue Jackets from here.

In 19 games over three seasons with the Sabres, he had three goals and six points.
