It has not been a fun start to the Buffalo Sabres' season. After losing to the Columbus Blue Jackets by a 6-4 final score last night (Oct. 17), they now have a 1-4-1 record. With the Sabres aiming to break their 13-year playoff drought, this kind of start is disastrous.
While it has been a disappointing beginning to the Sabres' campaign, some of their players are off to solid starts. One happens to be a newcomer, as Ryan McLeod continues making an impact early on.
After being held off the scoresheet in his first three games as a Sabre, McLeod has recorded a point in each of Buffalo's last three games. He is also on a two-game goal streak, so he is starting to stand out offensively with the Sabres.
Ryan McLeodWhen the Sabres acquired McLeod from the Edmonton Oilers this off-season, the hope was that the 25-year-old forward would take a step forward offensively. Thus, seeing him starting to get on the scoresheet consistently is excellent. In addition, his plus-4 rating is tied with Henri Jokiharju for the best on the team.
Seeing how McLeod builds on his hot streak from here will be interesting. If he keeps this up, he could be a home run of an addition for Buffalo.
