The Sabres have some players from the Coyotes worth targeting.
The Buffalo Sabres are expected to part ways with at least some of their pending UFAs by the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. However, there is also an expectation that they are open to bringing in players if they help them beyond this season.
The Arizona Coyotes, on the other hand, are likely to be big sellers. Their ongoing 13-game losing streak has sunk their playoff hopes and has shown that they still have a lot of work to do in their rebuild before becoming competitive. Because of this, the Sabres have some interesting trade targets from the Coyotes worth considering.
First, goaltender Karel Vejmelka is worth keeping an eye on. The 27-year-old netminder has been picking up some chatter in the rumor mill, especially due to Connor Ingram's emergence this season.
Vejmelka would provide the Sabres with a solid 1B to work with Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen if acquired. With that, he is under contract until the end of next season, so he would be more than a rental.
Nick Bjugstad is also an interesting player whom the Sabres should be watching. It is no secret that Buffalo has been looking to add a skillful veteran forward who plays a heavy game. That is something that Bjugstad would provide them with if acquired.
Bjugstad, 31, is quietly having a strong season with the Coyotes, as he has 13 goals, 31 points, 89 hits, and a plus-4 rating in 58 games. With numbers like these, he would be an excellent addition to the Sabres' middle six. He is also under contract until the end of next season, which adds to his appeal.
