The Buffalo Sabres are preparing for what should be a big offseason. They took a notable step in the wrong direction this season and extended their playoff drought to 13 years because of it. Due to this, changes to Buffalo's roster are on the way.

One pending unrestricted free agent who likely won't be returning to the Sabres next season is Eric Robinson.

Robinson, 28, was acquired by the Sabres back in Dec. 2023 for a conditional 2025 seventh-round pick. The 6-foot-2 forward fell down on the Columbus Blue Jackets' depth chart and was even demoted to the AHL before his eventual trade to Buffalo.

The hope was that Robinson would bounce back with the Sabres and provide them with some decent secondary production. Overall, he didn't make the biggest impact, posting just two goals and nine points in 40 games with the Sabres.

With the Sabres having many promising young forward prospects, they are in a position to move on from a depth forward like Robinson. With that, they could also easily find bottom-six upgrades in free agency if they wanted to go down that route.

It will be interesting to see what the Sabres decide to do with Robinson, but it seems far more likely than not that they will move on from him.
