The Sabres should make a push for this Jets star.
The Buffalo Sabres are preparing for a big offseason. After extending their playoff drought to 13 years, their goal is to improve their roster this summer. One specific need they have is adding a top-six scoring winger.
With the Sabres having a very deep prospect pool and the desire to become competitive immediately, they are in a position to make a big trade. Because of this, one player who should be on their radar this offseason is Winnipeg Jets winger Nikolaj Ehlers.
Ehlers, 28, has been picking up some steam in the rumor mill as of late. The Athletic's Murat Ates recently wrote that he expects Ehlers will be shopped and likely moved between now and the draft. This is because he is a pending UFA, and his future with the club is far from set in stone.
If the Jets officially shop Ehlers, he is exactly the kind of player the Sabres should look at. His offensive production and skill would massively boost their top six and power play.
Ehlers had another strong season for the Jets in 2023-24, posting 25 goals, 61 points, and a plus-27 rating in 82 games. Adding that kind of production would be beneficial for the Sabres, so let's see if they make a push for him from here.
