The Sabres have some clear objectives this offseason.

The Buffalo Sabres' 2023-24 season was undoubtedly disappointing. After taking a big step forward in 2022-23, the expectation was that they would finally make the playoffs again. However, they went in the wrong direction this campaign and extended their playoff drought to 13 years.
After another deflating campaign, it is apparent that the Sabres will make some changes to their group. Sabres GM Kevyn Adams wants to make the club's roster more competitive, and he should make some notable additions because of it.

According to The Fourth Period, the Sabres are "believed to be interested in" bringing in a top-six winger and third-line center this offseason. That is the case whether it is through free agency or trading. TFP also noted that it's currently unclear which players the Sabres will specifically be targeting.
There are some decent hypothetical options for the Sabres. In free agency, top-six wingers like Sam Reinhart, Jake Guentzel, Jonathan Marchessault, Tyler Toffoli, and Teuvo Teravainen could hit the market. As for potential free-agent centers, Chandler Stephenson, Max Domi, Jack Roslovic, and Alex Wennberg could work as the club's 3C.
We will need wait and see what the Sabres end up doing this offseason, but it is clear that one of their main objectives is to improve their forward group.
