This is not the best news for the Buffalo Sabres.

Buffalo Sabres prospect Prokhor Poltapov will be staying in the KHL for at least a bit longer, as he has signed a two-year extension with CSKA Moscow. It will expire at the completion of the 2026-27 season.
This is not the best news for the Sabres, as Poltapov has been showing good promise with CSKA Moscow this season. In 21 games with the KHL club, he has seven goals and 16 points. This was after he had five goals and eight assists in 56 games with them last season.
With this news, Poltapov will now not be able to play for the Sabres organization until at least the 2027-28 campaign.
