The Sabres should take a look at this young Wild center.
The Buffalo Sabres are expected to look to improve their center depth this offseason. It is understandable, as they traded Casey Mittelstadt to the Colorado Avalanche at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline for defenseman Bowen Byram.
Both free agency and the trade market should offer some potential notable names. One player who has been beginning to generate buzz is Minnesota Wild center Marco Rossi.
The Fourth Period recently reported that the Wild are willing to hear offers for Rossi. This should get the attention of the Sabres.
Rossi, 22, had a breakout season for the Wild in 2023-24, posting new career highs with 21 goals, 19 assists, and 40 points in 82 games. It was a big step in the right direction for the 2020 ninth-overall pick, and it's fair to assume that he can improve from here when noting his young age.
If acquired, Rossi would significantly boost the Sabres' top nine and be an obvious choice for their power play because of his offensive skill. With the Sabres needing more offense and looking to break their 13-year playoff drought, a promising youngster like Rossi should grab their attention.
It will be intriguing to see if the Sabres make a push for Rossi this summer from here.
