The Sabres could make a big splash this summer.

The Buffalo Sabres are preparing for a big offseason. After taking a step in the wrong direction in 2023-24, they are expected to be aggressive this year in free agency and on the trade market.
The Sabres will likely add a top-six forward to their roster this offseason. It is apparent that this is one of their needs heading into the summer, and one pending UFA who they should keep an eye on because of this is Vancouver Canucks star Elias Lindholm.

Lindholm, 29, is a special player. The 2013 first-round pick is an elite two-way forward when playing at his best, which the Sabres need right now. He also offers wonderful versatility, being able to play down the middle and on the wing.
Lindholm had a bit of a down year this season, posting 15 goals and 44 points in 75 games split between the Calgary Flames and Canucks. However, he has stepped up his play during the postseason, which should help his value this offseason. Along with that, he posted a 64-point campaign in 2022-23 and had 82 points in 2021-22. As a result, he is a clear bounce-back candidate for next season.
If the Sabres landed Lindholm, they would significantly improve their forward group. It will be intriguing to see if they make a push for him, but there could be a nice fit here.
