This Sabres defenseman is becoming a hot commodity around the league.
The Buffalo Sabres are expected to make multiple moves this offseason. After missing the playoffs for the 13th straight season, the Sabres' goal this offseason is to improve their roster and break their post-season drought in 2024-25.
With the Sabres actively looking to make changes, teams naturally consider them a a potential trading partner. One of their key defensemen is also generating trade interest.
According to The Fourth Period, multiple teams have expressed interest in defenseman Mattias Samuelsson. However, TFP also noted that Sabres GM Kevyn Adams has clarified that he does not plan to move the young defender.
Samuelsson, 24, has a $4.285 million cap hit until the completion of the 2029-30 season. The Sabres clearly have a lot of confidence that the left-shot defenseman will continue to develop his game, as evidenced by signing him to such a big deal. As a result, it makes sense that Adams is not open to moving him.
Samuelsson appeared in 41 games this season with the Sabres, posting one goal, seven points, 106 hits, and a plus-4 rating. In 150 career NHL games with Buffalo, he has three goals, 29 points, and 333 hits.
