EDMONTON -- Adam Henrique, Sam Carrick and Troy Stecher could be the only additions the Edmonton Oilers make for the 2023-24 trade deadline.

While the 4-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets certainly puts a damper on things, not all hope is lost for the Oilers.

However, one of the last remaining trade targets for the Oilers has just signed an extension with his current team.

Jordan Eberle and the Seattle Kraken have agreed to terms on a new contract. According to PuckPedia, the deal is going to be a two-year deal worth $4.75-million each year.

Jeff Marek had reported that the contract conversations had resumed and he thought that a deal could come together.

Then Elliotte Friedman confirmed the details shortly after. The team has just made it official:

It's unfortunate for the Oilers to not re-acquire Eberle. A reunion would have provided the team with another feel-good story for the year - especially after re-acquiring Sam Gagner in the off season.

Eberle has 37 points in 58 games this season. In the Kraken's playoff run last year he collected 11 points in 14 games while playing 18:07 a night. With 45 points in 63 playoff games since leaving the Oilers organization, he's certainly dispelled the label of not being a "playoff performer."

Time will tell to see if Ken Holland can pull off any more acquisitions before the deadline.
