EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers may be down Connor McDavid, but they still have a remarkable superstar.
In the absence of their captain Leon Draisaitl centered the top line, flanked by Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. The alternate captain notched a goal and an assist in 19:11 of ice time - securing a 5-1 win for the Oilers over the Vegas Golden Knights.
He played with pace, skill and dominated the faceoff circle. He won 10 of 18 draws he took - for a 56% success rate.
Adam Henrique and Leon Draisaitl.Draisaitl will more than likely finish below the 52-goal, 76-assist season he had last year. But the 41 goals and 63 assists this year aren't anything to scoff at.
Over the last 10 home games, Draisaitl has been elevating his game. He has four goals and 16 assists in those 10 games. That's two points per game over that span. If you look at just his past 10 games - regardless of location - he produced 14 points.
That's right in line with his playoff performances of late. Over the last two post seasons he has 50 points in 28 games. That's a 1.79 point pace across that time frame.
It's the right time to start heating up, with only five games left on the schedule of the regular season. Three of those remaining games are against teams that are not in a playoff position - the Arizona Coyotes and San Jose Sharks.
It's time for Draisaitl to feast.
