EDMONTON -- Special teams and goaltending wins the playoffs.

That's what some pundits say and the Edmonton Oilers could be one step closer to proving that tonight. They are poised to play Game five against the Dallas Stars with virtually an identical lineup to last game.

Sam Carrick is projected to play instead of Derek Ryan. At this point in time Derek Ryan was labeled a "game-time decision."

To say that the Oilers have had good special teams in the playoffs is an understatement. They trail only the Colorado Avalanche for the best power play, with a 32.6% conversion rate.

Their penalty kill on the other hand, has been otherworldly.

They have the best penalty kill percentage in the playoffs. Their kill rate is 93.2% while the next highest is the Florida Panthers with 88%.

The Oilers set a record with their last win - and could set another tonight. They have successfully killed 23 consecutive penalties. The team record is 25, set by the Oilers' of 1998.

If the Oilers continue to produce on special teams the way that they have, it will only benefit them. For now, the focus should be maintaining their special teams success. Additionally, they need to continue to find ways to produce goals at even strength.

One way or another, tonight's game is set up to be must-see entertainment.
