For the Edmonton Oilers to enter the last leg of the race to the Stanley Cup, they need to finish off the Dallas Stars. That could happen as early as tomorrow night but as late as Tuesday.
If they make that happen, we know who they will play as a result.
The Florida Panthers have defeated the New York Rangers. The final score was 2-1 in the sixth and final game of the series. This was a heavyweight matchup, but the difference in the series was the Panthers' top players were better than the Rangers' top players.
They now wait for the winner of the Oilers - Stars series.

Taking a quick scan of the Panthers and their strengths are clear - goaltending and penalty kill. Sergei Bobrovsky is playing well and giving them a chance to win nearly every night. They also have the second ranked penalty kill, behind the Oilers with an 88% kill rate (before tonight's game).
The Oilers clear advantage is their power play. They have a 34.7% success rate, while the Panthers only have cashed in on 23.7% of their power play chances.
If the Oilers advance past the Stars, they will certainly have their hands full against the Panthers. The Stanley Cup Final is scheduled to begin on Saturday June 8th.
