The Edmonton Oilers march on to the Stanley Cup Final.

    EDMONTON -- One last round.

The Edmonton Oilers have done it. What seemed impossible is now reality - the Oilers will play in the Stanley Cup Final. On Saturday they start their series against the Florida Panthers.

    Connor McDavid.

A 3-9-1 start to the 2023-24 season was a hole that many thought was insurmountable. One coaching change later and the tide turned for the Oilers.

They were the best team in the NHL from that point on. They made a big push for first in the Pacific Division, but had to settle for second billing.

    Then came the playoffs.

    Zach Hyman & Connor McDavid.

The Oilers couldn't ask for a better first round opponent than the Los Angeles Kings. Their stifling play style was a familiar foe for the Oilers. The games were heated from start to finish. The Oilers won in five.

Then came the Vancouver Canucks. That series went the distance, with the Oilers coming out on top after seven tight games. This victory served as retribution for their embarrassing 8-1 season opener.

And then there was tonight. Connor McDavid came ready to play and opened the game with a highlight reel power play goal.

Now for the first time in 18 years, the Oilers are in the Stanley Cup Final. Oil Country has been waiting for this moment since McDavid was drafted.

Of all the nights to deliver, the Oilers did that and much more tonight.
