EDMONTON -- Connor McDavid is the best player in the world, who has yet to prove that he's a winner.

A win tonight changes that. Or at least, a win tonight brings McDavid one step closer to his first Stanley Cup.
The Edmonton Oilers are hosting the Dallas Stars for Game six of the Western Conference final. With the Oilers up 3-2 in the series, they have an opportunity to dispatch their opponents tonight.

At optional morning skate today, Kris Knoblauch said there might be one substitution. Daniel Nugent Bowman of The Athletic spotted Sam Carrick on the ice at the optional skate. That could mean that Derek Ryan draws back into the picture.
According to Knoblauch, they will make that lineup decision during warmups. With that one alteration in mind, the lineup will otherwise be the same as Game five.

McDavid's resume to this point has been otherworldly. The only thing legitimately missing is a Stanley Cup.
By winning tonight the Oilers will punch their ticket to the Stanley Cup Final. There they will face the Florida Panthers in what will surely be an entertaining series.

Will this be the year that McDavid crosses over from best player in the game to best winner in the game? If all goes right for the Oilers, we will certainly get closer to finding out.
One way or another.
