    2 Former Oilers Defenders on Waivers

    Two former Edmonton Oilers defenders have been put on waivers today.

    EDMONTON -- Activity is increasing across the NHL today.

    More trades have been completed today. Brandon Duhaime was traded from the Minnesota Wild to the Colorado Avalanche. Anthony Beauviller went from the Chicago Blackhawks to the Nashville Predators and Joel Edmundson is the most recent Toronto Maple Leafs.

    The Edmonton Oilers also got into the mix, sending a fourth round draft pick to the Arizona Coyotes for Troy Stecher and a 7th round pick.

    The waiver wire today has a few former Oilers on it - Jordan Oesterle and William Lagesson.

    With the trade deadline being tomorrow, teams are placing players on waivers to maximize their salary cap and rosters. The Carolina Hurricanes, for example, have placed Tony DeAngelo, Antti Raanta, and Brendan Lemieux on waivers today. The Hurricanes are one of the reported front runners for Jake Guentzel.

    DeAngelo, Lemieux and Raanta collectively make just under $4-million in salary - so it's clear that they are up to something substantial.
